Creative Director | Acme Food Sales, Inc.
Seattle, WA | June 2004 - Present

My current position has by far been the most diversified job I’ve ever had. When I tell people what all I do, they often look at me with an expression of disbelief. My responsibilities include conceptual design, photography, copywriting, mock-ups, production and pre-press for all packaging, labels, presentations, food shows and retail promotionals for Acme’s internal brands: Festival, Pacific Crest, Imperial Choice, Danish Orchards & Culinary Kitchen (which encompasses over 400 food & beverage products).

I also manage label development for our many private label accounts including artwork, proofs and approval process. I collaborate regularly with our sales and purchasing departments on new product development. I manage contract designers, illustrators and techs as required. I’ve become an expert in FDA regulations and work diligently with dozens of suppliers and printers (both overseas and domestically) to alleviate problems and assure proper color and time management. Yes, I really do all that. So, what can I do for you?

Designer & Photographer | Atlas Burning (Freelance)
August 1998 - Present

As a freelance designer, I’ve covered nearly every facet of design imaginable. I’ve worked within time constraints and budgets as required and proven that creativity doesn’t have to break the bank. Freelance projects have included portrait and product photography, designs for logos/identities, CDs, mailers, t-shirts, specialty packaging and so much more.

Senior Designer, Contract | SS Design Group, Inc.
Bellevue, WA | January 2004 - June 2004

My primary responsibilities here included production of packaging for gourmet pet foods, local coffee distributors and candy franchises. This position was also my introduction into the wild, exciting world of trade show design and development.

Graphic Designer | William’s Printing Company
Chattanooga, TN | June 2000 - December 2001

My first job after college couldn’t have been more educational than working for one of Chattanooga’s premier printing companies. Here I learned the basis of all design work -the printing process- as well as the importance of proper project management. As a graphic designer my responsibilities included everything from X-acto knife ninja skills to conceptual design and layout of advertising and print materials including: magazines, identities, brochures, CD covers, direct mail, annual reports and more. I successfully managed multiple projects under strict deadlines, creating press-ready art for various printing processes. Other duties included archiving, creating mock-ups and presentations and working in collaboration with Art Director, Marketing Group, clients, and six other designers. Our clientele was extremely diverse, from large organizations like Ringling Brothers and Barnum & Bailey to local hospitals, politicians and schools. I also collaborated with my Art Director on a large project that won us a Chattanooga Addy Award.

Photography Management | DeSoto Times Today, Daily Newspaper
Southaven, MS | Fall 1999

When I think about my time at this job, I can still smell the darkroom. This was my first creative job, while I was still studying design. I developed film every Friday night from the local football games, which were always front page news for our Saturday edition. I reorganized the filing system of decades worth of photography and spent a lot of time scanning and color-correcting photos for the daily paper. I also assisted with archiving, layout, typography, editing and other various assignments as needed.
